What are HDPE Spigot Fittings?

HDPE Spigot Fittings are fusion-welded fittings that can be used for butt fusion or electrofusion to join HDPE pipes. Spigot fittings make a permanent, homogeneous joint and are stronger than the pipe.

Each fitting is made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and designed to resist high pressure, weather, chemical and underground exposure.

FAQs

The design of HDPE spigot fittings feature straight, non-flared ends that precisely match the outside diameter of the pipe they are meant to connect. They are inserted directly into electrofusion couplers or joined edge-to-edge by butt fusion. On the other hand, socket fittings have a somewhat larger opening that allows the pipe to be inserted into the fitting before being heated or sealed mechanically.

Definitely. Our fittings are made with high UV-stabilization capacity so they can be exposed to sunlight directly without getting brittle above ground. At the same time, their inherent flexibility makes them capable of withstanding the pressures from soil movement when buried underground.

Both techniques produce a joint stronger than the pipe itself. Butt fusion is very economical and quicker when dealing with long, uninterrupted pipelines of larger diameters. Electrofusion, on the other hand, is very suitable for confined spaces, repair works, vertical connections, or when dealing with smaller diameters where a fusion machine is difficult to use.
