Step-by-Step: How Long Neck Stub Ends Create a Flanged Joint
The sequence of creating a secure flanged connection with a Payal Irrigation HDPE Long Neck Pipe End is relatively simple, but is one of the most important steps.
Step 1: Install the Backing Flange (Slip-on Flange): The Backing Flange (Slip-on Flange) is first installed over the long neck of a pipe end before welding is performed.
Step 2: Thermal Fusion Welding: Butt fusion or electrofusion the surface of the long neck spigot to the mainline HDPE pipe, either edge-to-edge butt fusion or electrofusion coupler.
Step 3: Bolting Sequence: The backing flange is then pulled forward over the shoulder (flared lip) of the stub end. Align it with the mating pipe flange (such as cast iron valve), place an appropriate EPDM or Neoprene gasket, and cross-torque the bolts to create a high-pressure mechanical seal.
